For some people, podcasting has somehow become a fad or a go-to format for content creation. However, there is a lot. Podcasting is one of the fantastic communication mediums and apparently suffers from the same perils as other mediums. The key is to get clear on the purpose and then experiment until you get it right.

Why and how to experiment? Well, that's the question I am asking Richard this week.

We talk about:

  • What are a few different and legit reasons to start a podcast?
  • How to utilize it for networking?
  • What are the different styles of a podcast show?
  • Pros-cons and challenges of different styles.
  • How are these styles differently applicable based on your goals?
  • How can you mix-n-match different styles? Should you?
  • Why and how should you experiment with your podcasts?
  • The importance of podcast planning - what you must plan and what not?
  • How do you get audience feedback?

Richard Midson is a former career broadcaster and news editor for non-stop news radio in London (UK). He's a former YouTuber with a channel with over 1.6 million views, a former communications officer for the leader of the third-largest political group in the European Parliament, and a podcaster.

In 2020 after trying 5 podcasts with little success, he decided to turn his journalist past onto the world of podcasting to find out why so many people, including himself, struggled with the medium.

What he found is now delivered through his own podcast, in public talks, and workshops.
